Many colleges have learning support co-ordinators or disability
co-ordinators. It's a good idea to speak to a co-ordinator before applying
for a course.
If you're thinking about starting a course, here are some
of the questions you may need to ask:
- Is there a disability advisor?
- Are all the buildings I need to use accessible?
- Is care attendance available?
- Are the methods of teaching and assessment appropriate to my
needs?
- Is there special equipment to help me?
- Can special arrangements be made for me to take exams?
- Does the college have experience of supporting students with
disabilities?
- Can I get help to pay for my course?
- Will studying affect my benefits?
