What this Web site contains

The Introduction to Educational Guidance Web site is split into 7 sections:

MODULE HOME
This section provides a brief introduction to the module.

MODULE INFO
Provides a detailed description of the module, outlining the focus of the module, the course aims, learning outcomes, and a brief description of the assessment procedure.

PEOPLE
Introduces you to the module tutors and administrators; also provides essential contact details, such as phone numbers and email addresses.

CONTENT
Provides information on the course and the indivual topics covered in the course. This section also includes the activities to be completed through the course and the handouts in electronic form.

LEARNING JOURNAL
The Learning Journal is intended to provide you with the opportunity
to record your learning experiences all in one place, like a log book,
which on completion of the course you can submit for assessment.
Alternatively you may wish to use it as a personal record which you
may return to at a later stage.

RESOURCES
This includes information on resources available for the course
.

BULLETIN BOARD
A Bulletin Board to communicate with other students and staff on your module

Moving Around the Site

To open any of these sections, simply click on the desired section in the navigation bar on the left.

When you click on each section, you will be shown an introduction to that section in the main screen, eg:

When you click on some sections, they will expand, providing you with a choice of items to select.

All the text in white are links to other sections. When you click on a menu item it will expand and when you click on it again it will collaspe eg:


There are two kinds of links:

A bullet point indicates a document for you to view, eg:

Community University Web site

The Community University of North Wales is a partnership of further and higher education institutions. This site provides information on Community University courses being offered at institutions around North Wales, and information on student support, such as grants and PC access.

You can access the Community University of North Wales (CUNW) Web site, by clicking on the CUNW logo in the top left corner of the page, eg:

 


Printing

If you are going to print from this Web site, we recommend that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or above.

Printing with Netscape Navigator

If you are using Netscape Navigator -

  1. Click on the page that you want to print

  2. Select File from the pull-down menu at the top and click on Print Frame or click on the print button, eg:


Note: If you experience problems printing with a Netscape browser, you may open some of the pages in Word 97 format, and print the document from Word instead.  For help viewing pages in Word format, click here.

Printing with Internet Explorer

If you are using Internet Explorer -

  • Select File from the pull-down menu at the top and click on Print or click on the print button, eg:

Email

There are some email links within the site.

When you click on an email link, a new window will appear to type your message. Important: If this is not your normal email system, you will need to note down the email address and use your regular email system to send the email.

Microsoft Word Files

Some pages in this site may be viewed in Microsoft Word 97 format.

If you do not have Word 97 or a later version of Word (eg: 98, 2000) installed on your machine, you can download the Word Viewer, by clicking on the link below.

Note: Word documents will appear in a new window, your existing window will remain open in the background. See below for help on moving between open windows.

Saving in Word

You can save a Word document onto your own computer.

      1. Make sure you are viewing the Word version of the page.

      2. Select File from the pull-down menu at the top and click on Save As,
         
you will see the following screen:



      3.Type a name for the file in the file name box.

      4. Choose a folder from the list to save in.

      5. Click on the Save button in the top right hand corner.


Printing in Word

Select File from the pull-down menu at the top and click on Print or click on the print button, eg:

Moving Between Open Windows

When you click on a link, the resource may appear in a new Window. Your existing window will still remain open in the background.

Each open window (Web pages or Word documents) can be accessed by clicking on the buttons in the bar at the bottom of the screen, eg:

To close any open Window, click on the cross in the top right hand corner of the window, eg:
